Week 34 Stock Market Performance

There are a few sectors like Energy and Metals & Mining that did well this week. That was opposite of the S&P 500. China had an outsize gain this week. And US Oil was up as well. Bitcoin and Ethereum show gains for the week, but I would discount that due to timing.

Major Markets

The Emerging Markets eked out a small gain. Every other market was negative and most of the losses were on Friday - the last day of the week.

Major Sectors

We can see two outliers in Energy XLE and Metals & Mining XME. Other than these, everything was down. The Retail XRT, Technology XLK and Homebuilders XHB were the hardest hit.

Countries

Within the countries we have Brazil and China as the outliers. Both of them turned in profits this week while everything else faltered. Germany was the hardest hit.

Alternate and Thematic Sectors

US Oil shows a good gain in sync with Energy gain we saw earlier. I attribute the gains seem in Bitcoin and Ethereum to timing.
