Stock Market Sectors Review

We are 2 weeks into the new year and already a lot has changed in the stock markets. I like to use 15 sectors trending to tell me how the overall market is doing. Here is the summary table:

There are only 5 sectors that are still trending bullish per my model. The

XLE - Energy

XLF - Financials

XLI - Industrials

turned stronger over the last 2 weeks. All these reversed from being bearish to turning bullish.

There are 7 sectors that actually reversed from being bullish to turning bearish. These are:

XTN - Transports

XLU - Utilities

XLV - Healthcare

XLRE - Real Estate

XLK - Technology

XHB - Homebuilders

XSD - Semiconductors

So, overall, the markets are weak, and the trend is definitely bearish. The S&P 500 has turned bearish as well.
